Carpet Cleaning

Getting your home’s carpet cleaned once a year is recommended not only for appearance, but the removal of dirt, stains and allergens. Poorly maintained carpets can lead to disintegrated carpet fibers and visual wear. To get the most out of your flooring investment, we use the hot water extraction (steam cleaning) method. It is very effective in killing bacteria, fungus and dust mites.

Our truck-mounted system uses hot water with detergent/cleansing solution, high temperature, (150-200° F) and pressure to get your carpets looking fresh. Water sprayed with a high pressure carpet wand helps the particles and dirt on the carpet to loosen. Then, the debris that is forced out is pulled up with the help of vacuum suction and stored in a holding tank on our van. This is very good method for people who suffer from allergies, as all the dirt and dust gets removed from your carpet and your home.

Procedure:

  • First the area is thoroughly vacuumed and sprayed with a pre-spray cleaner. If there are any visible stains, these are also treated. Carpet fibers are then agitated with a agitation brush.

  • Then, carpet is hot water extracted using a truck mounted hot water extraction wand, to loosen and remove dirt and debris.

  • Lastly, carpet is groomed and left to thoroughly dry before being walked on.

What to do for accidents and spills:

  • The key is to act quickly! Absorb the spill by blotting liquids with a dry, white absorbent cloth or plain white paper towels. (No prints or colors, this could transfer dye to your damp fiber) Continue blotting until the area is barely damp, or the stain no longer visible. Semi-solids, like food spills, may need to be scooped up with a spoon before blotting. Solid, dried bits can be first vacuumed.

  • Contact Highland Pro Clean if you can still see the stain. We can help if you have an accidental spill on your carpet, oriental rug, or upholstery.

What not to do:

  • Do not scrub or use a brush. Over agitating can damage fibers. Fraying and texture change are the likely result.

  • Do not use store bought spotting products. They may cause further spotting or pull dye from the fibers. Even those claiming safe for carpet, can leave the area permanently discolored. We have professional products to get the job done right.
